Red Deer barbershop owner Clayten Willington has had enough and he’s not going to take it anymore.
After losing more than a quarter-million dollars at his three Red Deer and area barbershops during three separate lockdowns, Willington says he’s done with enforcing COVID-19 regulations at his Redstag Barbershop outlets.
“You can see what’s coming down the pipe – it’s 100% going to be vaccine passports,” Willington told the Western Standard on Tuesday.
And Willington added future provincial lockdowns will only be for unvaccinated people.
As of last week, the province reintroduced regulations for the third time, after saying they were gone for good at the start of the summer.
But Willington said he has no intention of enforcing the indoor forced masking mandate, adding not a single case of COVID-19 has been linked to his barbershops.
“There’s no division amongst the people but cases will continue to rise and they will slam the door down again,” he said.
Willington said each of his dozen barbers has personally lost in the area of $20,000 during the lockdown.
“We will allow unmasked people, unvaccinated people, I just don’t care anymore,” he said.
“We just try and create a relaxed environment. People come into the barbershop to relax and chat. We are kind of like amateur psychologists, people just want to come in to talk and chill.”
