Calgary police say a Canada-wide warrant has been issued in relation to a homicide last Thursday in the community of Temple.

Police were called to the 300 block of Templeview Drive N.E. last Thursday around 7:15 p.m. after reports of gunshots.

They arrived to find an unconscious woman in medical distress. She later died from her injuries.

The victim was identified as Jamie Lynn Scheibl, 23.

Calgary police have now issued a warrant for second-degree murder for 37-year-old Gerald Russell Frommelt. Police say the suspect is 6’2″ tall, 250 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes.

“After further investigation, we have determined that the victim and accused were recently in a relationship and we believe this to be a domestically-motivated homicide,” said Staff Sergeant Martin Schiavetta with the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “This is a tragic death and we are asking the public to help us locate Frommelt to help bring justice to Jamie’s family.”

Last week, Schieble’s family issued a statement through Calgary police saying she was a beloved friend, mother, daughter, granddaughter and sister.

“We are devastated by the loss of our sweet daughter Jamie. She was the most amazing, loving and kind person who was always helping others. She was beautiful, free-spirited, quirky and funny, and always brought a smile to our faces,” read the family’s statement. “We adore her and are overwhelmed with grief.”

Several friends of Scheible told Postmedia that she was a happy and outgoing woman who loved her daughter. They said she saw the best in everyone and would give anyone the benefit of the doubt.

Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact Calgary police at 403-266-1234, or to submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
