Las Vegas authorities are searching for a would-be murderer who attempted to rob and shoot a homeowner before his gun jammed, according to police and video.

The incident unfolded Sunday around 2:30 p.m., when an unidentified victim arrived home and parked his car in his garage, according to police.

“At the same time, an unidentified suspect approached the victim in the garage and demanded property. The victim ran away and the suspect chased him with a firearm trying to shoot him, however the firearm failed to fire,” police said. The suspect then fled the scene in a getaway vehicle.

Video footage shows the victim running across the street with the suspect giving chase before the alleged would-be robber positions his firearm to fire. The gun jams, and the suspect is seen trying to fix it while the victim appears to unlock a gate rather calmly after seemingly realizing the gun wasn’t going to fire.

Authorities described the suspect as a black male between 18-25 who was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, darker pants and white shoes. The getaway car was described as a black sedan with dark tinted windows.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the suspect to contact police.
