Canada’s eastern province of Nova Scotia, home to nearly a million Canadians, has issued a direction under the “declared state of emergency”, rendering it illegal to support in any way or participate in Canada’s freedom convoy. 

Effective on and after January 28, Nova Scotians are prohibited from donating to the popular movement or participating in it. 

The order stipulates that “all persons are prohibited from stopping, parking, or operating a vehicle or putting any item in such a manner as to create or contribute to a partial or complete blockade of the normal flow of vehicle traffic on a road, street or highway in the Province”.

“A failure to comply with this Direction could result in a summary conviction with fines between $3,000 to $10,000 for individuals and between $20,000 to $100,000 for a corporation per incident.”

The freedom convoy’s GoFundMe page has obtained nearly 9 million dollars in donations from 110,000 individual donors. 

The cause has gained support all across Canada as many are feeling that the government’s authoritarian measures and ruling by decrees or mandates have no end in sight.
