A TIPP poll carried out on behalf of the Center for Security Policy has found that nearly two thirds of Americans want to see China made to pay reparations for the coronavirus pandemic.
Michael Waller, a Senior Analyst for the Center notes that “Nearly two-thirds of Americans believe that the Chinese regime should pay reparations for the destruction caused by the human coronavirus pandemic” if the virus is proven to have accidentally leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Waller adds that the number “rises from 63 percent to 78 percent if investigations reveal that the Chinese government released the SARS-CoV-19 human coronavirus on purpose.”
Perhaps the question here should be ‘who are the 22 percent who don’t think China should pay for intentionally releasing a bio-weapon?’
When divided along political affiliation, 61 percent of Democrats and 71 percent of Republicans want reparations for an accidental leak, while 73 percent of Democrats and 88 percent of Republicans want reparations for an intentional release.
All in all, the poll found that 49 percent believe that the virus ‘was developed in a lab.’
The Center also notes that the “results generally coincide with the numbers of a new Politico-Harvard poll, which shows that 52 percent of the public believes that the virus that causes COVID-19 came from a ‘laboratory leak in China.’”
As we noted last week, this highlights that what was once denigrated as a dangerous conspiracy theory is now broadly accepted on a bipartisan basis.
The Wuhan lab leak issue once again underscores how ‘fact-checkers’, media outlets and Silicon Valley giants shouldn’t be handed monopoly power to dictate reality.
By blacklisting content related to the lab leak theory up until just a few months ago, those entities may well have been complicit in facilitating one of the biggest cover-ups in modern history.
