A new sex-education curriculum in the Austin Independent School District exposes young children to sexually explicit concepts and pro-LGBT propaganda, going so far as to teach minors about oral sex and demonstrating how to put on a condom.
The class materials and lesson plan for elementary- and middle-school children in the Texas city offers a look at the program known as Human Sexuality and Responsibility (HSR), which was developed based on the National Sex Education Standards (NSES), updated by the Future of Sex Education (FoSE) Initiative in 2020.
One of the partners involved in the roll-out of the new program, Advocates for Youth, praised the “updated indicators for consent and healthy relationships, gender identity and sexual orientation, and racial justice and equity.” Among the organizations that helped develop the standards was Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
These rules combine traditional sex education with transgenderism, pro-abortion messaging, and the encouragement of sexual promiscuity.
The standards for seven- and eight-year-olds state that students should be able to “identify different kinds of family structures,” and know the names for body parts “including male and female anatomy.”
By the end of high school, the goal is for students to be able to “describe the human sexual response cycle,” and “differentiate between biological sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity and expression.”
It goes further, seeking to turn high-schoolers into advocates for school policies that endorse the latter differences and be able to “compare and contrast the laws relating to pregnancy, adoption, abortion and parenting.”
Moreover, Advocates for Youth places heavy emphasis on “LGBTQ Rights” while supporting the “#FreeThePill” movement, which calls for wider access to contraceptives.
The group claims to receive government funding, as well as funding from left-wing groups such as George Soros’ Open Society Foundations. Advocates for Youth also takes aim at abstinence education by pushing for curriculum that includes information about “sex, sexuality, relationships, contraception and condoms, and how to protect yourself and plan your future” rather than “denying them [young people] information and simply telling them not to have sex.”
HSR materials publicly available reveal that third graders are to be taught what actions human reproductive organs have and prompted to identify images of body parts.
The sixth-grade curriculum includes an activity in which teachers hand out cards which students must identity as being either abstinence or not. This includes different types of activity, such as “oral sex.” A class handout for seventh graders includes instructions on how to use a male condom properly. That includes instructions on how to put on a condom and take it off.
Moreover, an eighth-grade class handout features instructions not only on condom use, but also a list of different contraceptive methods and their related images. This goes hand-in-hand with an assignment that ranks these methods according to their effectiveness at preventing the “risks” of sexual activity.
In this program, lessons on “identity” begin in third grade. By fifth grade, teachers are directed to “define sexual orientation as the romantic attraction of an individual to someone of the same gender or a different gender.”
The teacher is then supposed to tell students that “gender and sexual orientation varies from one person to the next…. Confusion about gender and sexual orientation is normal.”
The National Pulse reports:
Detailed definitions from the WHO of sexuality and sexual health are provided as basis for a large part of the lesson. A link is also provided to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as a credible source of information on sexuality and sexual health.
This comes as parents across America are increasingly concerned about what they consider indoctrination in classrooms, including pro-Marxist narratives, Critical Race Theory (CRT), and the exposing of children to pornographic content.
In conservative-leaning areas, some government officials are taking action to stop this kind of content from being presented to children. Florida and Texas, for example, are among the states that have banned the teaching of CRT.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a Republican, took it a step further earlier this month by signing legislation directing schools to teach students the evils of communism.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has won acclaim from the political right around the globe for the country’s ban on pro-trans propaganda aimed at minors and for measures designed to crack down on pedophilia.
Is the culture war now swinging back to common sense and decency?
